Surge Protective Device
A surge protector, also known as a surge suppressor or surge protection device, SPD for short, is a device or an appliance that is intended to protect electrical devices from voltage spikes in alternating current (AC) circuits which consists of the consumer unit, wiring and accessories, from electrical power surges known as transient overvoltages. It takes only a tiny amount of voltage increase to damage most of today's sensitive electronics.
