Emeramide is a white to off-white solid synthesized in the lab, also known as BDTH2, NBMI or [N1, N3-Bis-(2-Mercaptoethyl) Isophthalamide] .
It is one of our recently developed novel active melocules. It is a brand-new lipid-soluble antioxidant and a novel heavy metal chelator (Mainly used for mercury poisoning). Its structure is specifically designed to bind mercury(II) in water.
Due to small demand, we are still not producing it commercially till today.
It is insoluble in water but easily soluble in fat or lipids. It is also soluble in DMSO(DMSO is the solvent for its 1HNMR testing).
Emeramide was previously used for treating mercury contaminated soil and water, but later it is also found to be able to detox animals with mercury poisoning.
It is the most well-known reagent so far used for precipitation of mercury from water. The precipiate of BDT-Hg or NBMI-Hg is so stable that it will suck and capture almost all mercury in water, even though mercury concentration level in aqueous solutions is very low.
What makes BDTH2 better is that BDTH2 will still be binding mercury even after it is oxidized into disulfide.
It will work in all sorts of water solutions, no matter what the PH is: acidic, basic, or neutral.
