algae extract phycocyanin powder

The phycocyanin is a dark blue powder isolated from spirulina. Mainly found in cyanobacteria, red algae and cryptophyta. The phycocyanin is usually also classified into C-phycocyanin and R-phycocyanin. The former is mainly present in cyanobacteria, while the latter is mainly present in red algae, both of which are present in cryptophyta. Its function is to absorb light (orange) and transmit light energy. It is both a protein and an excellent natural food coloring, as well as a good health food.
