Clear, colorless to yellowish liquid with a pungent odor, which fumes on contact with air and has a boron trifluoride content of at least 47.7 wt.%.
Boron trifluoride Diethyl ether Molecular weight: 141,91 g/mol
Form supplied and packaging:
When stored for relatively long periods it can turn dark in color without losing its application-related properties. On dilution with water, hydrolysis ensues with liberation of diethyl ether. A corrosive, highly acidic mixture of boric acid, hydroxyfluoroboric acids and tetrafluoroboric acid is obtained. The vapors released in air are corrosive. Due to its catalytic properties Boron trifluoride Diethyl ether reacts with numerous organic compounds.
