Chlorine 70%, or Chlorine (Calcium Hypochlorite), is a highly oxidizing and powerful disinfectant chemical primarily used for sterilization and bleaching purposes. In Vietnam, Chlorine is widely used in the fields of swimming pool water treatment, aquaculture water treatment, and supply water treatment.
Chlorine is a chemical compound consisting of Ca(OCl)2, NaOCl, and Cl2. All of these are strong oxidizing matters. When adding chlorine to water results in a large amount of hypochlorous acid(HOCl), it ionizes into hypochlorite (OCl-).Both(HOCl)and(OCl-)ions directly affect the cell membrane, altering the molecular structure of bacteria and causing them to be unable to function and die.
Therefore, chlorine chemicals are widely used in water treatment to eliminate harmful bacteria that cause risks to human health.
In daily life, chlorine is commonly used for disinfection and cleaning water sources. Chlorine 1% is used as a cleaning chemical agent to disinfect areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, toilets, etc. Chlorine in powder or tablet form is used as a substitute for chloramines in the disinfection and sanitation process. It’s important to remember that when using chlorine, personal protective equipment should be renewed to ensure occupational safety.
In addition, we can also dilute chlorine to disinfect various types of fresh fruits to remove toxins such as pesticides, bacteria, etc.
- Disinfecting swimming pool water: Chlorine 70% helps eliminate harmful bacteria in the water while being deodorant for water, making the water cleaner.
- Disinfecting household water: Chlorine chemical is used to disinfect household water at a concentrationof1%,continuouslyaddedtotankstomaintainaresidualchlorineconcentrationof0,1-0,2ppm, ensuring cleaner and safer water.
- Chlorine is used to bleach fabric or paper, and it is formulated for rubber, plastic, and javelle water.
- Chlorinewithaconcentrationof0.5%isusedtodisinfect bacteria in food processing factories.
- Chlorine is a chemical used in the treatment of wastewater in factories producing packaging, bottles, and textile dyeing.
- Chlorine is used to prevent the spread of bacteria and disinfect water.
Chlorine 70% is used in aquaculture to clean equipment and machine aquaculture. Additionally, this chemical is also utilized to kill bacteria, and algae in ponds, and lakes.
The method of use is dissolving Chlorine water of 5–6g/l.The usage dosage of Chlorine is as follows:
● Disinfecting tanks, equipment, machinery,anddevices:100-200ppm(30 minutes).
● Treating diseases caused by para sites:0.1-0.2ppm
● Treating diseases caused by bacteria:1-3ppm(for10 -15minutes)
● Disinfecting pond bottoms: Maintain residual chlorine concentration in pond sat 50-100 ppm
● Disinfecting water in ponds and lakes:20- 30ppm
