Carbomer U20 is a hydrophobically modified, cross-linked acrylate copolymer. In addition to the high-efficiency thickening and suspension functions of traditional carbomer resins, this product can self-wet and disperse within minutes, provide medium to high viscosity, and have efficient thickening in a wide pH range performance; at the same time it can be used in systems containing moderate surfactants, can provide electrolyte resistance and a unique feel to the formulation, making it suitable for many applications. As such, the product offers product formulators a number of important advantages as a water-soluble rheology modifier.

It is specially designed for thickening surfactant systems. This "easy to disperse" cross-linked polyacrylic acid copolymer is processed in a toxicologically advantageous co-solvent system that produces excellent thickening efficiency, suspending power, long viscous flow characteristics in gel systems and crystal clear transparency. Because of its low dispersion viscosity prior to neutralization, it is specifically designed to reduce the effect of caking on dispersions in water and make them easier to pump and handle. Therefore, it is easier to prepare aqueous dispersions of Carbopol 2020 at higher polymer solids content.
