Introduction
HIDIS 40 is sodium salt of poly (acrylic acid) and HIDIS 45 is ammonium salt of poly (acrylic acid) type highmolecular dispersant designed for use as a pigment dispersing agent. Both give high efficiency in dispersing of titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate and other extenders into water and also in lowering the viscosity.
Advantages
. HIDIS 40 and HIDIS 45 are versatile dispersants which provide easy dispersion, and water resistance of emulsion paints.
. HIDIS 40 and HIDIS 45 markedly lower the viscosity of mill base when pigment grinding.
. HIDIS 40 and HIDIS 45 are recommended as dispersants of semi-gloss paints, sheen paints and flat paints, providing good stability of viscosity.
. HIDIS 40 and HIDIS 45 provide anti-setting of pigments and no flocculation of pigments in emulsion paints for long term storage.
. HIDIS 40 and HIDIS 45 provide good efficiency of grinding using small dispersant amounts. Dosages
. It is recommended to use about 0.4-0.6% wt. of HIDIS 40 based on dry pigments.
. HIDIS 45 is more effective than HIDIS 40.
. 0.3-0.5% wt. of HIDIS 45 based on dry pigments is recommended. Safety and Handling
. HIDIS 40 and HIDIS 45 are slightly irritating to the skin and eyes, and contact with these areas should be avoided. When handling wear impervious rubber gloves and goggles/facemask.
. For handling/operation where possible contact may occur, a safety shower and eyewash station should be available.
