Ferro Manganese alloy is an alloy of manganese and iron.There are high carbon ferromanganese(carbon 7%). medium carbon fer-romanganese(carbon 1.0~1.5%),low carbon ferromanganese(carbon 0.5%) manganese metal.It is mainly used as a deoxidiser and counters bad effects of sulphur in metals. FeMn improves hot working properties and impacts properties such as increased strength, hardness toughness and hardenability.
1. Steel industry: Ferro manganese alloy is an indispensable deoxidizer and desulfurizer in the steelmaking industry. Good steel needs to be deoxidized and desulfurized during smelting, and the use of deoxidizers will greatly increase its cost. Therefore, ferromanganese is a cheap deoxidizer. Desulfurization refers to the removal of harmful substances such as sulfur in steel. ferromanganese can well achieve the purpose of desulfurization, effectively reduce the content of harmful elements in steel, and improve the quality of steel.
In the steelmaking industry, about 3 to 5kg of 75% ferromanganese is consumed per ton of steel produced.
2. Foundry industry: The addition of Ferro Manganese alloy to cast iron can be used as an inoculant and a nodularizing agent for ductile iron, and can prevent the formation of carbides, promote the precipitation of graphite, greatly shorten the nodularization time, and greatly reduce the form of impurities in molten iron. Cast iron quality, improve cast iron performance. And reduce the blockage of the smelting furnace nozzle, effectively prolong the service life of the smelting furnace.
3. Other industries: High-carbon ferromanganese or manganese alloys are used as reducing agents for the production of low-carbon ferroalloys in the ferroalloy industry. Ferromanganese powder can be used as a suspended phase in the mineral processing industry, and used as a coating for welding rods in the welding rod manufacturing industry; high manganese ferromanganese can be used in the electrical industry to prepare semiconductor pure manganese, and in the chemical industry, it can be used to make manganese ketones, etc.
