The Grower’s Secret Story began in 1995 on amushroom farm on Maui with a phone call that starteda collaboration between two long time friends, labpartners and plant pathologists, Bryan Hiromoto andWesley Chun, both have degrees in plant pathologyfrom U of Hawaii. Together, they identified severalspecies of edible mushrooms that produced nematicidalcompounds. One mushroom was found to produce acompound that significantly stimulates plant growth.In 1998, Advanced Biological Research, LLC (ABRbetter known as Albert Pleus, Bryan Hiromoto, RandyHarve) was formed and the process to produce largequantities of this compound in a liquid fermentationculture was developed. Field validation was conductedin Hawaii and by third party researchers with thesupport of a federal grant. By 2003, large bioreactorincubation was established and the growth enhancerwas sold commercially as Liquid Compost Factor and inretail stores such as Ace Hardware, KMart, and Long'sDrugs as PGE. In 2010, Chaz Berman agreed tocommercialize the material and ABR became Grower’sSecret, Inc. The plant growth enhancer was rebrandedas Grower’s Secret Professional (GSP), marketingefforts were expanded, and the company exploredexpanding the product line. After enhancing fishemulsion with GSP, the company has added severalorganic fertilizers and supplements to its productline. In 2014, we added an organic, high nitrogenfertilizer derived from soy beans called Grower’sSecret Nitrogen 14-0-0 to our family. By 2015, GSIadded Earth Emulsion 2-3-3.
