Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) is a non-ionic cellulose ether polymer based on cellulose. Cellulose is a natural polymer extracted from refined cotton linter and provided as a free-flowing powder. Belonging to the cellulose ether group, HPMC is mainly used in building materials, such as tile adhesives and plasters, as rheological modifiers and water retaining agents.
