PMA is a yellow-green inorganic compound that is a heteropoly acid, phosphomolybdate soluble in water and polar organic solvents (such as ethanol). Phosphomolybdate hydrate is a yellow solid containing 28 water molecules. Phosphomolybdic acid is an efficient oxidizing Chemicalbook agent, and has rapid multi-electron reversible REDOX properties under relatively mild conditions, so it has become an important catalyst, widely used in organic synthesis, organic oxidation processes, corrosion inhibitors, non-carbon fuel cells.
Its structure has the characteristics of complex and metal oxide, acidity and oxidation reduction, and secondary structure composed of crystal water. It has special functions for metal corrosion inhibitor and solid electrolyte of organic synthesis catalyst. The product is also widely used in medicine and pesticides as an acid catalyst for product synthesis
It can be used to detect alkaloids, uric acid, xanthine, creatinine, and certain metals. It can determine antimony, copper, thallium and vanadium by microanalysis. It can be used with hematoxylin for nerve staining.
