PMA is a yellow-green inorganic compound that is a heteropoly acid, phosphomolybdate soluble in water and polar organic solvents (such as ethanol). Phosphomolybdate hydrate is a yellow solid containing 28 water molecules. Phosphomolybdic acid is an efficient oxidizing Chemicalbook agent, and has rapid multi-electron reversible REDOX properties under relatively mild conditions, so it has become an important catalyst, widely used in organic synthesis, organic oxidation processes, corrosion inhibitors, non-carbon fuel cells.
