Hydroxychloroquine(HCQ), sold under the brand name Plaquenil among others, is amedication used to prevent and treat malaria in areas wheremalaria remains sensitive to chloroquine. Other uses includetreatment of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and porphyria cutaneatarda. It is taken by mouth.
