Suberic acid can be used in the synthesis of:
Perfluorinated analogs of suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid (SAHA) as potent histone deacetylase inhibitors.
Half-ester analogue of pregnenolone sulfate (PES).
Cellulose acetate basic ester, a cellulose omega-carboxylate.
It also acts as a crosslinker for polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). The tensile strength of the cross-linked molecules is increased compared to pure PVA.
