Low Loss Corning fiber stainless steel Tube OPGW cable
Fibre Optic Overhead Group Wire Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) is used in power utility for dual function as a ground or static wire and a path for transmission of voice, video or data signals through optical fibres allowing for fast, reliable and cost effective installations. Fibres are placed in a central stainless steel tube with water-resistant jelly filling; it is inserted into an aluminium pipe which provided added crush protection and increasing the conductivity. Over it one or two layers of aluminium coated steel wire or aluminium wire or aluminium alloy wire are stranded, stranded wires are selected to optimize mechanical and electrical properties of cable. They have high tensile load, long span and high crush resistance. Their small diameter and light weight minimize load to the tower.
Structure of OPGW
OPGW aerial optical cable can adopt aluminum tube type, aluminum frame type, and (stainless) steel tube type structure respectively according to user needs. The optical fiber is sheathed in a tube made of stainless steel, the tube is surrounded by aluminum-clad steel wire (AS wire), and the outer layer is wrapped with aluminum alloy wire (AA wire) and twisted into a cable. Among them, the optical fiber provides the transmission channel, the steel component mainly provides the mechanical strength, and the aluminum component mainly carries the short-circuit current. The outer layer of OPGW is aluminum clad steel or aluminum alloy wire, and the diameter of single strand is required to be no less than 3.0mm to reduce strand breakage by lightning. The outermost layer of OPGW is twisted to the right.
Fiber Count Up to 96 Cores.
OPGW classification
PBT tube/ Aluminum clad PBT Central Tube OPGW
Optical fiber is located in a PBT plastic loose tube, and the outside is covered with a seamless aluminum tube. The aluminum tube is stranded with 1 to 2 layers of monofilament, which can be all-aluminum-clad steel wire or a mixed twist of aluminum-clad steel wire and aluminum alloy wire.
1.Preferred option for easy handling and splicing
2.Thick-walled aluminum pipe provides excellent crush resistance
3.Hermetically sealed pipe protects optical fibers
4.Outer wire strands selected to optimize mechanical and electrical properties
5.Optical sub-unit provides exceptional mechanical and thermal protection for fibers
6.Dielectric color-coded optical sub-units available in fiber counts of 6, 8, 12, 18 and 24
7.Multiple sub-units combine to achieve fiber counts up to 144
Stainless steel Tube/Aluminum Clad stainless steel Tube OPGW
The optical fiber is placed in a sealed stainless-steel tube, and the outer layer is covered with an aluminum layer to form an optical fiber unit. The aluminum-clad stainless-steel pipe is stranded with 1 to 2 layers of monofilament, which can be all-aluminum-clad steel wire or a mixed-stranded aluminum-clad steel wire and aluminum alloy wire.
1.Fiber counts up to 96 in same diameter product
2.Small diameter, low weight reduces retrofit impact
3.Laser-welded, hermetically sealed stainless steel tubes provide mechanical and thermal protection for fibers
4.Thick-walled aluminum pipe provides crush resistance and boosts fault current rating
5.Outer wire strands selected to optimize mechanical and electrical properties
6.Fiber grouped in bundles of 12 for ease of splicing prep
Stainless steel Tube Structure OPGW - Layer Stranded
The stainless-steel tube is twisted with 2 to 3 layers of aluminum-clad steel wire, or the aluminum-clad steel wire and aluminum alloy wire are twisted together, which can accommodate single or multiple optical units.
1.Fiber counts up to 432 or higher if needed
2.Laser-welded, hermetically sealed stainless steel tubes provide mechanical and thermal protection for optical fibers
3.High load, long span capability
4.Each stainless steel tube is uniquely identified for organization at splice locations
5.Stranded wires selected to optimize mechanical and electrical properties of cable
6.Anti-rotational devices usually not required for installation, depending on conditions
