It's white solid powder.It's poorly soluble in water and indissoluble in alkaline solution.But it's easily soluble in dilute acid and ammonium salt solution.It decomposes into magnesium oxide and water by heat.The initial degradation temperature is 340℃.The degradation speed is the fastest when is 430℃.It completely decomposes when is 490℃.
