It is odorless,tasteless and nontoxic white amorphous powder.Its density is about 3.58g/cm³ and its melting point is about 2852℃.It's poorly soluble in pure water and organic solvent.Its solubility in water increases because of the presence of CO2.It's dissolvable in acid or ammonium salt solution.It can be converted into crystal after high temperature burning(above 1000℃).When the temperature is above 1500℃,it is tured into dead-burned magnesia or sintered magnesia.It is tured into magnesium carbonate composite salt when meets CO2 in the air.

It is widely used in rubber,plastic materials(such as tyre,cable,conveyor belt,timing belt,synchronous belt,V-belt,rubber hose,rubber slab,rubber roller,seal rubber plug),adhesive,friction material,organic magnesium salt,electronic component,catalyst,ceramics.
