Product Description:
Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) is a colorless, low-viscosity liquid, also is highly miscible with standard organic solvents, such as alcohols, hydrocarbons and acetone.
Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS)is a colorless, low-viscosity liquid. Use requires acid- or alkali-catalysed hydrolysis. Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) is regarded as trifunctional since all three alkoxy groups are able to participate in this reaction. Additionally Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) contains a methyl group that adds organic character to the products. Hydrolysis leads to silanol groups which, in a subsequent condensation reaction, form very stable siloxane bonds (-Si-O-Si-).

Product Specification/Models:
Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) contains a methyl group that adds organic character to the products.MTMSis regarded as trifunctional since all three alkoxy groups are able to hydrolyze. The use of MTMS to render fillers water repellent considerably improves their dispersibility and reduces their sedimentation tendency.MTMS can be used as a constituent of silica gels, silicone resins and silicone rubber.
Application:
1) Used as a crosslinking agengt for RTV.
The most common alkoxy crosslinkers are methoxy or ethoxy silanes due to their high reactivity. The reaction precedes by nucleophilic substitution usually in the presence of acid or base catalysts. Alkoxides react directly with silanols or with water to produce silanols. The newly formed silanols can react with other alkoxides or self-condense to produce a siloxane bond and water. When an acid catalyst is used, protonation of the alkoxysilane increases the reactivity of the leaving group. When a base catalyst is used, deprotonation of the silanol forms a reactive silonate anion. The by-product of the reaction is an alcohol. Common metal catalysts for these reactions are alkoxytitanium derivatives and dibutyltin dicarboxylates.
2)used in the production of silicone resins and filler modifier.
3) High-Performance Penetrating Sealers: Premium-grade penetrating sealers are easily formulated by blending 10 to 40 percent Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) in alcohols or organic solvents.
4) Sol-Gel system: It is an important component in Sol-Gel system.
3. Filler Dispersion: Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) can be used as a surface modifier to generate hydrophobicity (e. G. Mineral fillers or inorganic pigments). The medium-chain alkyl functionality in unique compound properties when Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) treated minerals or pigments are incorporated into polymers e. G. PP, PE. Loading levels of 0.5 to 1.5 wt% Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) based on the weight of minerals or pigments are typically recommended.
MTMS is used mainly to render a wide range of surfaces and materials water repellent (e.g. mineral fillers, pigments, glass, cardboard).MTMS may be used pure or in solution to treat fillers, using suitable mixing equipment. It may be necessary to first pre-treat the substrate with water and/or a catalyst.
It is also used as a pigment treatment to aid in dispersion.
