Indications: The product is mainly used for the treatment of anaerobic infection.

Adverse reactions:

Adverse reactions occurred in 15 to 30% of cases, with digestive tract reactions the most common, including nausea, vomiting, anorexia, abdominal colic, which generally did not affect treatment; Nervous system symptoms include headache, dizziness, occasional sensory abnormalities, limb numbness, ataxia, polyneuritis, etc., and large doses can cause convulsions. In a few cases, urticaria, flushing, pruritus, cystitis, dysuria, metallic taste in the mouth and leukopenia are reversible, and they recover automatically after stopping the drug.

Pharmacology and toxicology:

Metronidazole has a strong antibacterial effect on most anaerobic bacteria, but has no effect on aerobic bacteria and facultative anaerobes. The antibacterial spectrum includes Bacteroides fragilis and other Bacteroides, Clostridium, Clostridium aerogenes, Eubacterium, Veyrococcus, enterococcus and Streptococcus digest, etc. The actinomycetes, Lactobacillus and Propionibacterium are resistant to this product. The bactericidal concentration is slightly higher than the bacteriostatic concentration. This product can also inhibit the redox reaction of amoeba protozoa and break the nitrogen chain of protozoa. In vitro tests showed that when the drug concentration was 1~2mg/L, amoeba histolytica could undergo morphological changes within 6~20 hours, and all of them were killed within 24 hours. The concentration was 0.2mg/L, and amoeba histolytica could be killed within 72 hours. This product has a powerful effect on killing trichomonas, and its mechanism is unknown. It is carcinogenic to some animals.
