In Peru, it is cultivated in Madre de Dios , Huanuco, Oxapampa, San Martin, Rodriguez de Mendoza, Ucayali (Pucallpa, Contamana and Requena), Putumayo and around Iquitos. In the region of San Martin you can found Sacha Inchi along the Huallaga basin to Yurimaguas, in Alto Mayo through Cumbaza River Basin ; and areas of Lamas Province ; especifically , in the Shanusi .

Current scientific research states that Sacha Inchi is the best oilseed for its composition and nutritional quality: Its oil is high in Omega 3 essential fatty acids (over 48%) , Omega 6 (36%). Moreover , digestibility is very high (over 96%), antioxidants vitamin A and alpha-tocopherol vitamin E. More than 60% of the defatted almond is high quality complete protein (99% digestible), very rich in essential and nonessential amino acids in amounts sufficient for good health.
