PALM OIL:
The oil palm (elaeis guineensis) is a multi beneficial tree used in the production of palm oil , palm kernel, oil palm wine bottling, alcohol and yeast production as well as brooms, baskets coupled with various industrial uses which makes it one of the most profitable and less risky of all agricultural products.
The tree starts bearing fruits in the fourth year and can be harvested for over 50 years. It yields about 12 bunches of fruits per year with each bunch weighing about 16kg. About 50-75 percent is the fruit the rest being stem. Maximum yield comes in the 9th 12th year varying from about 600kg to 900kg of bunches per hectare. The composition is 66 percent fruit to each bunch and about 20percent oil to each fruit.
