Potassium cyanide is a compound with the formula KCN. Thiscolorless crystalline salt, similar in appearance to sugar, ishighly soluble in water. Most KCN is used in gold mining, organicsynthesis, and electroplating. Smaller applications includejewellery for chemical gilding and buffing.
