Types of ring mills

Ring mills are divided into closed and open type ring mills according to the process.

The closed ring lapping machine places the heated and perforated billet 2 on the core roller 3 and relies on the inner edge of the lapping roller 1 to rotate the billet to achieve a thinning of the thickness and an enlargement of the diameter.

This process is less commonly used due to structural constraints. The open ring mill heats and punches a small hole in the billet 2 on the core roll 3, which is rotated by the outer edge of the lapping roll 1 to achieve a thinning of the billet thickness and an enlargement of the diameter of the roll forming.

This process is widely used, as it is more reasonable in terms of access to the material, the diameter of the ring and the structure of the machine.
