Rice bran is a by-product / waste of the rice milling process in producing rice, consisting of an outer layer of rice grains with a number of seed institutions. According to the results of the study that approximately 8-8.5% of the weight of rice is rice bran.

Rice bran can be used as a concentrated feed that contains energy and is preferred by livestock. Rice bran has nutritional content, namely dry matter 86.5%, ash 8.7%, crude protein 10.8%, crude fiber 11.5%, fat 5.1%, extract material without nitrogen (BETN) 50.4% , 0.2% calcium and 2.5% phosphorus.

In the bran there is rice bran oil with nutritional content in the form of tocopherols, tocotrienols and oryzanol. These nutrients are natural antioxidants that help fight free radicals in the body, especially cancer. Based on its nutritional content, rice bran oil has the opportunity to be further processed to increase its added value in the form of a food supplement, using the stirring extraction method with solvents.
