Silicon slag is a gray-black granular solid waste produced by partial oxidation and partial reduction of silicon materials at high temperatures. Silicon slag mainly comes from silicon material processing processes in the metallurgy and semiconductor industries, such as silicon wafer slicing, ferrosilicon smelting and other processes. The main components of silicon slag are SiO2 and a small amount of FeO, Al2O3, CaO and other elements and oxides.
1.) Make cement
Silica slag can be used as an additive in cement clinker to replace some materials such as plaster of paris or fly ash in cement clinker. Silica slag can promote the hydration reaction of cement clinker and enhance the early strength and long-term performance of cement.
2. )Making glass
Silica slag is an important raw material for glass manufacturing. It can replace part of the raw materials such as quartz sand and sodium carbonate, reduce the cost of glass production, and at the same time improve the quality and weathering resistance of the glass.
3.) Manufacturing Ceramics
After silicon slag is mixed with materials such as alumina, calcium oxide and magnesium oxide, high-performance refractory ceramic materials can be prepared. These materials have excellent properties such as high-temperature fire resistance, high strength and wear resistance, and are widely used in high-temperature furnaces, chemical equipment and other fields.
4. )Manufacturing building materials
Silica slag can be used as a raw material for manufacturing building materials such as building bricks, sound insulation panels and thermal insulation materials. Building materials made of silicon slag have high strength, wear resistance, fire resistance and other properties, and also have good heat and sound insulation properties.
5. )Other uses
Silicon slag can also be used to manufacture graphite electrodes, iron oxide pigments, electrical insulation materials and other products. In addition, silica slag can also be recycled, such as used to make road hardeners, low-carbon cement, etc.
