SILVER BASED ALLOYS-CADMIUM BEARING
The brazing alloys presented in this page are very versatile ,high strength, free-flowing and exhibit the lowest melting points of all silver based alloys. The can be used to join a wide range of base materials. Continuous service operating temperatures of joints brazed with these alloys range up to approx 200°C. Because of the presence of Zinc and Cadmium , and the possible failure of the joint due to the mechanism of inter-facial corrosion , these alloys are not recommended for the joining of stainless steels in wet conditions , in these conditions , zinc free and cadmium free alloys , or alloys with nickel additions are preferred. Since Cadmium and its oxides are toxic , special safety precautions must be followed during brazing operations. The use of these alloys in applications where food, beverages and or human health in general in involved , is forbidden.
Cd content silver filler metal are very good fluidity and lower melting temperture alloys. The following alloys can make rod,wire,ring,strip,powder and paste.
