Sodium gluconate, also known as sodium pentahydroxy hexanoate, is a white or light yellow crystalline powder, soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, insoluble in ether.

Sodium gluconate is a deep processing product of glucose, but also the basic raw material for the preparation of gluconate lactone, gluconate (zinc, copper, ferric salt) and so on. It can be used as nutritional supplement, curing agent, buffer and so on in the food industry.
