Spike lavender is binomially known as Lavandula latifolia. It is also known as Portugese lavender and belongs to the genus of Lavandula. This special flowering plant is strong aromatic shrub which grows just 30- 80 cm tall. It has evergreen leaves and produces flowers of lilac color in spikes of 2- 5 cm long. Spike lavender bears fruit which looks like nut which remains hidden inside a calyx tube.
