Strophanthus does not cause gastric distress, has no cumulative effects, is a more diuretic, and is safer for the elderly since it does not affect vasomotors. Woman .-- Menorrhagia; uterine haemorrhage; heavily congested uterus. Painful pain across the hips and thighs during climacteric. Respiratory .-- Dyspnœa, especially on ascending. Lungs congested. Edema of the lungs. Bronchial and cardiac asthma. Heart - Accelerated pulse. Weak, irregular heart action rapid, due to muscular debility; and insufficiency. Heart pain. Skin .-- Urticaria, especially the more chronic forms. Extremities .-- Swollen, dropsical. Anasarca. Relation .-- Compare: Number (but is slower than strophant in its action); Phos ac (weak heart, irregular heartbeat, floating sensation in the heart region, palpitation during sleep, fainting). Dose - Tincture and potency 6x. In more acute cases, five to ten drops of the tincture three times a day.
