Benzoin siam is extracted from the benzoin tree, scientifically known as Styrax tonkenensis. In Vietnam, there are 4 types of benzoin: Styrax tonkinensis Pierre, Styrax benzoin Dryand, Styrax agrestis G. Don, Styrax annamensis Guill in which Styrax tonkenensis is the most common, producing the most resin.
