Vietnam is known as one of the world’s leading producer and exporter of black pepper. Pepper is known in Vietnam as a prestige and quality. Established in the 17th century as a perennial industrial crop of Vietnam agriculture, Plantation area of black pepper increased from 400 Hectares in 1983 to over 73,000 Hectares by 2003 with production of over 140,000 MT out of which export of 155,000 MT is amounting to 1.2 Billion USD. Vietnamese pepper has been exported to more than 80 countries around the world. This hot and spicy aromatic fruit has been a home of land and climate suitable to this little fruit in central and southern region of Vietnam. Few names to mention where black pepper is cultivated – Bình Phước, Đắk Lắk, Gia Lai, Đắk Nông, Vũng Tàu, Đồng Nai, Phú Quốc, Kiên Giang and Quảng Trị.
