1. OVERVIEW ABOUT OM5451 RICE IN VIETNAM
Rice characteristics:
OM 5451 rice varieties with growth time relatively short (90-95 days), tillering pretty, relatively stiff straw.-26g), medium (95-100 cm), beautiful shape, seed cotton closed beam, low floaters rate, quite heavy 1,000 grain weight 25.With the beautiful grain, elongated, little white, soft and tasty rice, OM 5451 rice is suitable for exporting.
Number of crops per year:
Three (Feb to April – Winter Spring, June to August – Summer Autumn and November to December – Autumn Winter).
Growing areas:
Many provinces in the Mekong Delta including Long An, Tien Giang, Can Tho, Dong Thap and other provinces is planting OM5451 rice and all of kind Vietnamese Rice: Vietnamese Long Grain White rice, Vietnamese Japonica Rice, Vietnamese Jasmine Rice, Fragrant Rice, Brown Rice, Herbal Purple Rice.
