The VTM-1 medium contains Guanidine Isothiocyanate. The virus can be inactivated and lysed immediately, hence reducing Biohazard risk while transfer.The nuclear acid (RNA or DNA) can be maintained in the medium for at least 24 hours.The VTM-2 contains medium buffered salt solution, Proteins (Bovine serum albumin), antimicrobial agents, pH Indicator.It Preserves viral infectivity within the specimen, prevents specimen from drying, prevents growth of bacteria and fungi. The VTM-2 medium is suitable for the downstream Antigen based diagnosis and/or virus culture.
